Paramount+'s series Landman sets out to show the cut-throat competition between different groups hoping to make their names and earn a lot of money from the oil boom in West Texas. The series follows Tommy Norris as he scrambles to manage crises for an oil company run by Monty Miller, while both characters also deal with personal problems. Landman boasts an impressive cast, including Billy Bob Thornton as Norris; Ali Larter as his wife Angela; Jon Hamm as Miller; and Demi Moore as his wife, whose performances have already ensured Landman season 2 will happen.

The neo-Western drama was inspired by the podcast Boomtown and was created by Yellowstone co-creator and Tulsa King creator Taylor Sheridan. The real counterparts of characters like Tommy Norris or Monty Miller would certainly be involved in the AAPL, so it only makes sense that Landman would use the headquarters as a filming location to maintain authenticity. Referencing the AAPL and using its headquarters as a filming location also helps to show the more elite and bureaucratic side of the show while also referencing the shocking crises that Norris has to deal with.

Fort Worth Petroleum Club

The Show Made Use of Real Landmen Locations

Likewise, the real Fort Worth Petroleum Club makes an appearance as itself in Landman season 1. The Petroleum Club is one of Fort Worth's oldest private clubs, having been established in 1953, and provides amenities for members from various industries. Initially established for wealthy members of the oil industry, it makes sense that Landman would film in this location as well.

The private club can be seen in Landman episode 1 when Monty Miller can be seen attending a lunch meeting with other oil industry executives. The upscale meeting functions similarly to the AAPL headquarters, as a way to remind audiences of the vast differences between the show's characters working on the actual oil rigs and the wealthy characters who prefer not to get their hands dirty.

Texas Christian University

The University Appears In Several Key Scenes

Texas Christian University (TCU) also appears throughout the series as a key location for the Miller family. Texas Christian University is a private university in Fort Worth, Texas, which boasts a large and beautiful campus, making it another ideal filming location for scenes revolving around Gracie Miller's college life.

Within Landman, TCU serves as the university that Monty Miller's daughter, Gracie, attends. The university's track and field stadium can be seen in episode 2 in a scene where Monty Miller attends Gracie's track meet. As with the other filming locations for Landman, TCU helps to ground the show in potentially real aspects of a landman's life.
